PT Motivator: Reimagining Army Fitness with UX/UI Design

The physical and mental well-being of Army personnel is crucial, yet many soldiers struggle with staying motivated outside of mandatory training. Existing fitness apps lacked the camaraderie, structure, and inspiration soldiers needed to train with purpose, so I set out to design an engaging, community-driven fitness tool tailored specifically for the military.

I needed to create an intuitive, motivating UX/UI experience that:
❖ Encouraged accountability through peer-based motivation
❖ Offered structured, military-style workouts accessible anytime
❖ Provided inspiration & mental resilience support
❖ Underwent rigorous usability testing to refine the design

Through in-depth user research, I interviewed active-duty soldiers & veterans to understand what drives them to train consistently. One critical insight emerged: Motivation thrives on community. Soldiers perform better when they train with a purpose and a partner.

From these insights, I designed PT Motivator, integrating key UX/UI features:
❖ Find A Battle Buddy - Because accountability is everything. Users connect with a partner to train and support each other.
❖ Challenge A Battle Buddy - A feature honoring fallen soldiers, turning friendly competition into a tribute.
❖ Live & Recorded Workouts - Led by real military instructors to ensure authenticity & effectiveness.
❖ Daily Motivation - Featuring quotes from Colin Powell & David Goggins to boost morale.
To validate the UX, I conducted usability tests using Maze, focusing on engagement, ease of use, and feature effectiveness. After multiple iterations, I refined the app to maximize user retention and interaction.
